FAQs
TAC = Team Around the Client + Access. Yes, we know it’s an acronym, but it does describe perfectly the service that we offer. Everything we do is based on providing instant access to the best support for children and young people, precisely when they need it the most.
Sessions can take place either online or face to face. Our extensive data tells us that over 75% of searches are for both. If the session is face-to-face this is in a safe area approved by the commissioner, such as a school, part of the educational establishment, a social care setting or the professional’s premises.
An educational establishment is any provision registered with a DFE number and therefore Ofsted regulated.
A parent/carer or educational establishment, or other setting like a children’s home, can apply to be registered as a commissioner with TAC Access through a quick online application process. Once approved, commissioners have unlimited access to our UK wide database, allowing them to filter, review and select from an extensive range of professionals to support their client.
This depends on the qualifications and experience of the professional meeting each client’s needs. Commissioners can filter and select support professionals from our directory, with relevant costs displayed in each professional’s profile. Payment can be made through a client’s parents, carers, social care, health or educational establishment. The big difference with TAC Access is that there are no agency fees and all payments go direct to the support professionals.
This is the wide range of professionals that TAC Access has available to support your client. For example they could be a counsellor, therapist or specialist teacher.
Each professional who registers with TAC Access, pays a one-off registration fee and a low monthly or annual membership fee. Whilst TAC Access is free to the organisation commissioning the service, the beauty of our service is we don’t take a cut, and all fees go directly to our professionals.

Our UK-wide directory means you are more likely to get client sessions. Professionals providing support receive all of the money for all sessions directly, regardless of the number of client introductions made. There are no agency fees, only a monthly fee, or reduced cost for an annual subscription fee, in order to be registered on the TAC Access directory of professionals.
This is the person that is either paying for the service for client support, such as the client themselves, parent or carer, or the person that is representing the organisation paying for the service, such as a headteacher, principal, SENDCo or social worker.
As educational experts for over 30 years we’ve been in your shoes, so we know that the budget allocated to support vulnerable children and young people is always limited. Post COVID, the number of children and young people with support needs has increased dramatically. With TAC Access you pay no registration fee as a commissioner. You can quickly and easily review online the best support professionals in your area and those available to support the child or young person in your care. You then pay them directly, with no agency fees. So the cost to you is kept as low as possible and you can use your budget to provide more support, more often.
Simply refer your establishment to this website and ask them to register for free on the home page as a commissioner. Alternatively you can register yourself as a parent or carer here. Once approved as a commissioner you will also be able to search our UK wide directory of support professionals.
We have advisory non executive directors (NEDs) who are very much part of our business structure and we consult with them regularly. We also have a whole network of other advisors, carefully chosen to keep us up to date with all the support services we either currently offer or plan to offer. It also ensures that we keep abreast of any ongoing changes in the support needs of children and young people.
TAC Access is a limited company rather than a charity. This enables us to be more agile in our response to client support needs as they can change rapidly in a challenging world, such as with the multiple effects and implications of COVID on children and young people.
Our overall aim is to help save commissioners money and make it much easier and faster for them to access support services to children and young people. As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility aims, which are under the management of our Non Executive Directors, we also give back benefits, such as providing a proportion of our professional membership fees to support those whose needs are not well met through Government funding or other channels.

TAC Access is here to help support all children and young people and we really welcome any feedback from you through a call or email, either as one of our commissioners or professionals. Whilst our service extends commissioner budgets by paying support professionals directly, we’ll listen to any new ideas so we can find new, better and more cost effective ways to support more children and young people.
